If A Heating Or Air-Conditioning Duct Is Directly Over A Workstation

Sitting under forced air heating ducts will lull the senses like a pile of blankets protecting you from a winter's chill. On the other hand, a cold draft from the same duct in summertime can make you recede like a turtle into its shell. In either case, your optimal performance is hin­dered by the breadth of extremes.

When unable to move yourself out from under a heating and cooling duct, try hanging a scarf, an umbrella, or an art object under the duct to help deflect the draft away from you. At the very least, turn the vent slats to one side so that the air doesn't blow directly downward.
