If Light Falls Across Your Dominant Hand

We need to eliminate as many distractions as possible to focus on a task. Not even a shadow should come be­tween you and your work. Any encumbrance lessens your effectiveness.

If light shines over the shoulder of your writing hand, a shadow will fall across the working surface. If light comes from the side unobstructed by a hand, the surface will be without shadows. Shadows sap you of direct focus for the task at hand.

Position a light above or on the side of the non-dominant hand. I have perched a light atop my computer to shine directly down on my keyboard, leaving me a working surface free of distractions.
